Resources

If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, there are many places to choose from to go for medical help, advice, counseling, filing charges, and prevention programming. These are some of the resources available.

Seek Medical Attention: (215-662-4000)

If you have been raped, it’s important for you to seek medical attention as soon as possible. Go to the emergency room of the University of Pennsylvania Hospital at 34th and Spruce (215-662-4000). Put your clothes in a bag to bring to the hospital for evidence, and try not to shower until you have been treated.

Talk to a Counselor at Penn: (215-898-7021)

CAPS offers confidential and free professional or peer assistance in dealing with the trauma experienced by a student or by those close to a student who has been sexually assaulted. The staff includes male and female counseling/clinical psychologists.

24-Hour Rape Helpline: (215-985-3333)

Women Organized Against Rape is a Philadelphia help center for physically and sexually assaulted men and women. They offer several programs to help students who have been sexually assaulted, including a 24-hour Helpline, individual counseling and support groups, a safe shelter for survivors afraid to return home after an assault, and accompaniment to the hospital, police department, and court.
